20 Boy Summer

Wow I haven't posted anything in a while. I am slipping. Well.... I have been busy, just to put things in perspective I went to Maryland for a couple of days and i just got a job so.... yeah majorly busy. Actually next week I will be away at a camp at Dartmouth so I once again dissappear. But I will shoot you all a review before I go. :)

20 Boy Summer By: Sarah Ockler

Synopsis

"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."

"Okay."

"Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"

"Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"

According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in ZanzibarBay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.

Review

Ok, first off I read this in the car on the way to Maryland and I almost finished this in one sitting. Anna is a girl that anyone can relate to and she has a genuine and careing voice that you just can't help but love. At times I was sad and at others I was hysterically laughing. I couldn't put the book down! Anna and her best friend strive for what every teenager wants an A.B.S.E ( Absolute Best Summer Ever). They go to great lengths to dodge the normal activities of family vacations, while still pleasing the parents. They have an amazing time with each other and their boy flings, sneaking out at night to live up the night life at Zannabar Bay. They even find themselves taking many trips down memory lane. I would recommed this book to anyone who has lost someone dear to them, looking for a great summer read... well actually I would recommend this to virtually everyone. It's not action packed but has a story line that will reel you in.

Hary Potter and The Half Blood Prince

Soooooo....
You know how I said that I would post something about Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince... well here it is, a little late, but better late than never.

So, I would like to start off by saying that I had huge expectations for this movie and I am an UBER crazy fan ( I wore my Griffindor shirt to the midnight showing and had the book in my hand) That being said I thouroughly enjoyed it. However, there were some major inconsistancies that were crucial to the sixth book and a lot of information that was left out that is crucial to the seventh book. So just a quick list of the things they either added or left out-

1. Quidditch tryouts- that was in the fifth book
2. the burrow blows up- never happened
3. Bill and Fluer get engaged- characters weren't present in the movie
4. Dumbledor's Funeral- wasn't present in the movie
5. Harry is a womanizer in the beginning of the movie- what the hell???
6. Dumbledor apparating out of Hogwarts and in front of muggles in the beginning- ....would never happen
7. Firenze didn't turn Bill into a werewolf- bill wasn't even in the movie grrr
8. The vanishing cabnet- wasn't supposed to be seen until the last part of the film whereas it was present throughout the movie
9. Harry being Quidditch captain- wasn't explained that he was it although it was implied
10. Lupin and Tonks- It was implied that they were together but Lupin was supposed to not want them together because he is a werewolf
11. The Slug Parties- Harry was supposed to only go to one of them
12. The Felix Felicis- Harry wasn't supposed to drink it all in one shot he drank a little and gave the rest to everyone when he and Dumbledore went to get the horicrux
13. The Dursley's were cut out- also cutting out the fact that Harry must stay there until he is seventeen
14. They cut out Voldemorts childhood- his mother and the other possibilities for the other Horicruxes
15. Epic battle at the end of the movie- WHERE THE HECK WAS THE DA!!!! They were supposed to fight!

There are a ton more but they are too numerous to count so go see the movie but if too many changes will bother you... BEWARE!

Blue Moon

Heloooo people of the Blogosphere!

Happy 4th of July! To commerate this holiday I will post my first review. Yay!

Blue Moon

(Comes out July 7th but for some reason my book store had it... strange but hey I am not complaining)

Description
Just as Ever is learning everything she can about her new abilities as an immortal, initiated into the dark, seductive world by her beloved Damen, something terrible is happening to him. As Ever’s powers are increasing, Damen’s are fading—stricken by a mysterious illness that threatens his memory, his identity, his life. Desperate to save him, Ever travels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, uncovering not only the secrets of Damen’s past—the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden—but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. With the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them—or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker each day...

Review
As soon as I saw this in my bookstore a couple of days ago I almost screamed. I knew when the release date was and realized that I was getting it early I pounced at the opportunity. Yes, I do realize that you people are sharpening your pitchforks at this moment, sorry. But anyways, as soon as I got home I plopped down on my bed and I started to read. As soon as I started reading I was hooked. I couldn't put the book down even if I tried. The book was filled with twists and turns that seemed unfathomable. It was not predictable like I peg most books to be and at times I just stared at the page thinking "What. Just. Happened!" It was a quick paced book that I would highly recommend. So, everyone anticipating the second book in the Immortal Series, you will not be dissappointed, just wanting more. Fortunately for us there will be a third in the series but I won't spoil the title for you, you'll just have to get the book and see for yourself.
That's all for now, but before I go here's my book picks for the week.
1. The Summoning ~Kelley Armstrong
2. City of Bones~ Cassandra Claire
3. The Tales of Beatle the Bard~ J.K. Rowling
4. Marley and Me~ John Grogan
5. Lock and Key~ Sarah Dessen
6. The Host~ Stephenie Meyer
7. Cirque Du Freak Series~ Darren Shan
8. The Looking Glass Wars~ Frank Beddor
9. Lovely Bones~ Alice Sebold
10. Strange Angels~ Lili St. Crow
Enjoy your holliday weekend!
